My name is Titilola Ogbeide. I am a Nigerian American based in Philadelphia, PA. I am a board Certified Professional Midwife. Currently, I am serving the city of Philadelphia and the surrounding cities. I am certified in CPR as well as Neonatal resuscitation. I am a Brooklyn native, and the daughter of two Nigerian immigrants who encouraged the importance of culture in our household through music, artwork, food, religion and language. In 2013, I graduated from Paul Smith's College with an associate degree in Integrative Studies. This is where my love for the outdoors expanded from double-dutch, man hunt, longboarding from sun up to sun down, to hikes in the Adirondack National Park.
In 2015, I graduated from The University at Buffalo where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Human Health Services. While being in Buffalo I volunteered at a non-profit organization that helped refugee moms adjust to American life while being pregnant. This opportunity allowed me to accompany moms during the prenatal visits and attend their hospital births.
In 2016, I applied to Birthwise
Midwifery School in Bridgton, Maine. During my time there, I spent two years completing an extensive midwifery educational program, as well as participated and completed two clinical rotations where basic clinical skills were mastered. Maine is where practicing holistic care became so important to me; what you nourish your body and mind are some of the key factors for a healthy pregnancy.
In 2018 I moved to Houston, Texas where I completed my ‘Assisted Births’ and began taking on a primary role as an Apprentice at a birthing center.
After being in Houston for nearly a year and assisting with over 40 out-of-hospital births, being so far away from my family and love ones, taught me that having communal support makes any major life transformation easier, whether that be becoming a health professional or pregnancy.I truly believe in community help in all aspects of life, especially with expectant parents, it creates a level of comfort when everyone around them is supportive and encouraging.
At the end of 2019, I made the decision to move back to the east coast. I began my research on cities that I can call home, cities where people that looked like me and will embrace all the unique things about me, and I came across Philadelphia; the city of brotherly love.
While in Philly I completed my requirements for midwifery school with Philadelphia community Midwives. Here, I not only found a supportive community with amazing midwives but also a place where my warm and inviting spirit can provide competent care to families that seek it.
